Position: DDA Registered Nurse

 

Organization Type: DDA

Location: Salisbury, MD

Setting: State Residential Facility

 

Position Type: Contract

Contract Length: 8-weeks

Pay: $50/hour

 

Shift/Schedule: Full Time Nights, 10:45p-7a, 40hours/week, every other weekend required

 

About the Organization:

  • State residential facility operated by the Maryland Department of Health serving individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Located on a 75-acre campus, the center provides a range of services including audiology, speech therapy, physical and occupational therapy, psychology, vocational training, nursing, medical care, and social work. The facility emphasizes individualized care and self-determination, with each resident having a dedicated interdisciplinary team to develop personalized habilitation plans.

 

Essential Duties andResponsibilities:

  • Management of Nursing Care: Oversee nursing care and ensure the comfort of individuals on a unit during a designated shift.
  • Supervision and Evaluation: Assist with the supervision and evaluation of personnel on a designated shift
  • G-Tube Management: Care for individuals with gastrostomy tubes (G-Tubes) for feeding and medication administration.
  • Seizure Management: Monitoring and managing residents with seizure disorders, including the use of Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS) devices.
  • Chest Physiotherapy (Chest PT): Providing respiratory care, including chest physiotherapy to help clear airway secretions.

 

Qualification Requirements:

  • A minimum of 1 year of recent/relative experience as an RN in a clinical setting.
  • Prior/recent experience working with individuals with developmental/intellectual disabilities highly preferred.
  • RNs in any previous clinical setting (Tele, ED, ICU, LTC, Hospice, Behavioral, etc.) will be considered.
  • Empathy and compassion are vital traits that interested candidates must have in order to be successful in this role.
  • Specific licensure and certifications/registrations required: MD or compact RN license & CPR.
