Job Title: Special Education Teacher –Elementary

Location: Multiple Elementary Schools in Howard County, MD
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: Remainder of the school year (with possibility of extensioninto 2026–2027)
Schedule: Full-time, 35 hours per week (specific hours vary by school)

Position Overview

The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of the SpecialEducation Program Administrator, provides high-quality services to studentswith special needs in grades K–12. This role requires collaboration withgeneral education staff to plan and implement individualized student programs,including specialized instruction, tutorial assistance, and consultation.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
• Deliver differentiated instruction and adapt learning materials to meet student needs.
• Collect and analyze student performance data to inform instruction.
• Collaborate with families, general education teachers, and support staff to create a safe and supportive learning environment.
• Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (preferred).
• Valid Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) teaching certification with endorsement in Special Education (no conditional or provisional licenses).
• At least 1 year of experience in a special education teaching environment.
• Current CPR certification (if applicable).
• TB questionnaire, PPD or chest X-ray (if applicable).
• Current health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
• Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Preferred Qualifications

• Standard Elementary Teaching Certification.
• Standard Special Education Teaching Certification.
• Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1).
