- Apply the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for surgical patients
- Conduct preoperative assessments and verify patient readiness for surgery
- Assist in preparing the operating room, including equipment, instruments, and supplies
- Circulate during surgical procedures, ensuring patient safety and sterile technique
- Scrub in as needed to assist with surgical procedures
- Monitor patient status throughout the perioperative period, including vital signs and anesthesia response
- Administer medications and IV therapies as prescribed
- Document intraoperative care and patient responses in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Collaborate with the surgical team to anticipate and respond to patient needs
- Provide postoperative care and education, including pain management and discharge instructions
- Adhere to infection control, safety, and quality standards
- Respond promptly to emergencies such as adverse reactions, bleeding, or cardiac events
- Advocate for patient safety, dignity, and confidentiality throughout the surgical experience
- Current Registered Nurse license in the state of practice
- Minimum one year of professional nursing experience; OR experience preferred
- Completion of Amergis’ Competency Program (if applicable)
- Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred)
- Knowledge of surgical procedures, sterile technique, and perioperative protocols
- TB screening and health clearance (as required by contract or regulation)
- Compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations
- Successful completion of new hire orientation and OR-specific training
- Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations
- Strong communication skills and proficiency in English
- Basic computer literacy
- Must be at least 18 years of age
