Early Childhood Special Education Teacher

The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator provides quality services to special education students, kindergarten through grade 12.  The Special Education Teacher has a commitment to team participation in planning and implementation of student programs including special instruction, tutorial assistance and consultation with general education staff.  

Minimum Requirements:  

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university preferred 
• Valid state teaching certificate as required by state, contract/district regulations 
• Minimum of one year experience in teaching environment preferred 
• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Elementary Teaching preferred
• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Secondary Teaching preferred
• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Special Teaching preferred
• Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred
• Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice 
• Current CPR if applicable 
• TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable 
• Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation) 
• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements 
• Must be at least 18 years of age  

General Comments

Modality:	Special Education Teacher Must have MO B-3 Special Education AND Early Childhood Teaching Certifications
Grade Level & Classroom Type (General, Inclusion, Self Contained, etc.)	Life Skills Classroom, disabilities range from intellectual disabilities, autism, down syndrome, etc.
Caseload Details:	Morning and Afternoon Classes, 4 students in each class but could vary slightly throughout the school year due to referrals and evaluations
Classroom Support:	Paraprofessional in classroom
Day to Day Duties:	lead classroom; conduct IEP meetings, lesson planning etc.
Group or 1:1 support (Paras, BTs, Nurses):	1 Para for support in each class; will also collaborate with district’s psych examiners, sped director, and early childhood principal regarding paperwork/compliance/processes
Start & End Date:	ASAP Start, 2025-26 SY
Start & End Time:	8:00am – 4:00pm; Monday – Friday School is only in session Mon – Thurs but Friday will be used for IEP meetings and lesson planning
Types of Testing (LSSPs, Diags, SLPs):	IEPs
