Job Title: Correctional Nurse (LPN)

  • Location: Arlington County Jail
  • Job Type: Full-Time / Contract

Job Description:

Join the healthcare team at Arlington County Jail, where your nursing expertise will directly impact the well-being of an underserved population. As a Correctional Nurse, you’ll work in a secure, collaborative environment providing essential care to incarcerated individuals. This role offers a unique opportunity to grow professionally while supporting public health and safety. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide routine and emergency care to inmates
  • Administer medications and manage chronic/acute conditions
  • Conduct health assessments and maintain accurate documentation
  • Collaborate with physicians, mental health staff, and correctional officers
  • Respond to medical emergencies and participate in crisis interventions
  • Educate patients on wellness and preventive care
  • Uphold facility protocols and healthcare standards

Qualifications:

  • Active LPN license in Virginia
  • Minimum 1 year of correctional healthcare experience
  • Current BLS certification
  • TB screening (PPD, chest x-ray, or questionnaire)
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Weekend availability required
  • Willingness to travel or relocate for the assignment
