The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator provides quality services to special education students, kindergarten through grade 12. The Special Education Teacher has a commitment to team participation in planning and implementation of student programs including special instruction, tutorial assistance and consultation with general education staff.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university preferred
- Valid state teaching certificate as required by state, contract/district regulations
- Minimum of one year experience in teaching environment preferred
- State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Elementary Teaching preferred
- State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Secondary Teaching preferred
- State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Special Teaching preferred
- Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred
- Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age

Day to Day Duties: |
Developing lesson plans Delivering group and individual instruction within curriculum guidelines Developing student schedules to match IEP service minutes Collaborating with other teachers/team members Collaborating with administrators and building coordinators in addressing instructional or classroom issues Managing student behavior in accordance with PBIS, IEP and district guidelines Communicating with students’ parents/guardians Data Collection Meeting Special Education compliance standards and timelines Completion of Special Education paperwork Facilitating IEP and Evaluation Meetings Facilitating weekly Instructional Assistant meetings Administering district and state assessments Scheduling and supervising Instructional Assistants Attending meetings & professional learning Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the building. |
