- Special Education Teacher – K–12
- Location: Crestwood, IL
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM (37.5 paid hours/week, including a 30-minute paid break)
- Start Date: 11/3/25 OR 12/2/25

We are seeking compassionate and skilled Special Education Teachers to join a highly supportive and interdisciplinary team serving students with diverse needs. This is a full-time opportunity to work in specialized classroom settings focused on functional independence, life skills, and autism support.
Role Overview:
Under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, the Special Education Teacher provides high-quality services to students. This role involves active participation in planning and implementing individualized student programs, including specialized instruction, tutorial support, and collaboration with general education staff.
Classroom Models Available:

Transition Program (High Acuity):
- Cross-categorical classroom with up to 7 students
- Focus on functional independence and life skills
- On-site gift shop/store used for real-world learning
- Students may have physical disabilities and moderate to severe behaviors
- Each classroom includes a dedicated Special Education teacher and Teacher’s Assistant
- Most students have assigned 1:1 paraprofessionals

Autism-Focused Classrooms (Elementary & High School):
- Classrooms capped at 6 students
- Strong para support (3–4 per classroom)
- Individualized instruction and behavioral support
- Push-in/pull-out services based on student needs
Collaborative Environment:
You’ll work alongside a multidisciplinary team including SLPs, BCBAs, Social Workers, RNs, PTs, OTs, RBTs, and other professionals. Administrators are highly supportive and committed to ensuring you have the time, resources, and guidance needed to succeed.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university (preferred)
- Valid Illinois teaching certificate as required by state and district regulations
- Minimum of one year of teaching experience (preferred)
- Illinois State Teacher Certification (preferred):
- Standard Elementary Teaching
- Standard Secondary Teaching
- Standard Special Teaching
- Learning Behavior Specialist/LBS1 Endorsement (required)
- Compliance with all relevant professional standards of practice
- Current CPR certification (if applicable)
- TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray (if applicable)
- Current health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
- Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
