Amergis Healthcare Staffing is seeking an Orthopedic Technician. The Orthopedic Technician works directly under the supervision of the Orthopedic Surgeon. The Orthopedic Technician assists with splinting and casts, as well as minor orthopedic procedures as directed by the surgeon. The Orthopedic Technician may also assist with preparing personal assistive devices and training for use by the patient.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Completion of Orthopedic Training Program and Certification by the National Board for Certification of Orthopedic Technologists (NBCOT) preferred
- Basic Life Support CPR, required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support ACLS, may be required based upon specialty
- 2-4 years of related experience required. Medical Assistant experience preferred
- Current physical exam, if required by state regulations or contract specifications
- Current PPD skin test or Chest X-Ray if applicable
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic medical records (EMR’s)
- Knowledge of medical terminology; particularly to skill set
- Demonstrates communication skills with patients, peers and medical staff

Orthopedic Tech or Cast Tech
Provides assistance to physicians in the application, maintenance and removal of casts, traction, Ilizarov device and other splint or motion device as prescribed. Informs patients / families, staff and students about the use and care of casts, traction and Ilizarov devices; monitors and orders casting and traction supplies and equipment.
This position is:
• 40 hrs/week
• Dayshift (Monday – Friday | No Weekends)
• 13 Week Contract – Potential for Temp-to-Perm
• Performs direct and indirect patient care activities within the scope of practice of an
Orthopedic Technician
• Performs casting, traction and Ilizarov services under the direction and supervision of an Attending Orthopedic Surgeon
• Demonstrates open, accurate and timely communication with patients/families and
interdisciplinary team members to ensure effective therapeutic intervention. Maintains
competency, adheres to standards of practice, recognizes own learning needs to Amergisize professional development and optimal patient care
