Special Education Teacher – Elementary Self-Contained
Location: Killeen, TX
Pay Rate: $45–$50/hr
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: 37.5 per week
Duration: 2025–2026 School Year
Position Overview
We are seeking Special Education Teachers to provide high-quality educational services to students in grades K–12, with a major need for Elementary Self-Contained classrooms. Under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to plan and implement individualized programs that meet the academic, behavioral, and social needs of students.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement curriculum using effective teaching strategies tailored to student needs.
- Draft and monitor IEP goals and objectives in collaboration with ARD committees.
- Participate in ARD meetings and maintain accurate documentation.
- Conduct formative and summative assessments to track student progress.
- Serve as case manager for assigned students.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusion when appropriate.
- Implement behavior management strategies and classroom routines.
- Communicate regularly with families regarding academic and behavioral progress.
- Provide physical support as needed (e.g., toileting, feeding, mobility assistance).
- Maintain special education equipment and instructional materials.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university (preferred).
- Valid State Teaching Certificate as required by state/district regulations.
- Special Education Certification EC–12 and EC–6 Core or 4–8 Generalist (required).
- Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) (preferred).
- Minimum of 1 year teaching experience (preferred).
- Current CPR certification, TB screening, and health certificate (as applicable).
- Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
