Amergis Educational Staffing is hiring a full-time Special Education Teacher to serve as a Learning Specialist with North Wasco County School District in The Dalles, Oregon. This position begins October 27, 2025, and runs for 39 weeks through the 2025–2026 school year.

Position Overview:

Location: The Dalles, OR
Start Date: October 27, 2025
Contract Length: 9 months (2025–2026 school year)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 37.5 hours/week
Pay Rate: $55–$58/hr (based on experience)
Modality: In-person
Position Type: Elementary School
Openings: 1

Position Details:

Caseload of approximately 15 high-needs students, including non-verbal students with autism
Goal: Transition students toward increased time in general education
Support team includes a co-teacher, speech assistant (3 days/week), and multiple educational assistants
Facilitator model: Learning Specialist provides related services and contributes to present levels and goals, but does not manage cases

Minimum Requirements:

Valid Oregon teaching certificate (Special Education preferred)
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (preferred)
At least one year of experience as a SPED Teacher
Experience working with students with autism
LBS1 endorsement (preferred)
CPR certification, TB clearance, and health certificate as applicable
Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age
