Registered Nurse (RN) – Child & Youth Services (CYS) Program at Joint Base Lewis-McChord
Amergis Healthcare Staffing is currently seeking one Registered Nurse (RN) to support the Child and Youth Services (CYS) Program at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) in Washington. This role involves providing health support services for a child with Type 1 Diabetes enrolled in a before and after school program. The RN will apply professional knowledge and skills to promote the health and well-being of children in accordance with established policies and guidance.
Program Hours:
Monday through Friday
Morning Shift: 6:00 AM – 8:00 AM
Afternoon Shift: 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Federal Holidays: All federal holidays are off and paid
Benefits: Accrue PTO and sick pay
Position Responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing services in accordance with the child’s medical action plan
- Administer insulin and monitor blood glucose levels
- Educate CYS staff, peers, and parents on medical accommodations and diabetes care
- Coordinate resources and services for the child requiring nursing care
- Maintain accurate documentation in the Child & Youth Management System (CYMS)
Qualifications:
- Active RN license (Washington State)
- Minimum 1 year of experience with pediatric or medically fragile patients
- Experience with Type 1 Diabetes care preferred
- Current BLS certification
- Must be eligible to work on a military base
Compensation:
$50–$55/hour depending on experience

The School Registered Nurse oversees the application of the nursing process and the delivery of student care in a school setting. The School RN supports the physical, mental and emotional well-being of students within the school setting. The School RN plays an essential role in promoting the health and safety, responding to medical emergencies, managing chronic conditions and serving as a liaison between families, school staff and healthcare providers. The School RN provides services in accordance with Amergis’ philosophy, standards, policies and physician orders.
Minimum Requirements:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferred
- School Nurse Certification as required by state or contract
- One year of school nursing, public health or pediatric experience, preferred
- Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
