Mental Health Technician ( MHT/BHT) – Nights

The Mental / Psychiatric Health Technician cares for individuals withpsychiatric conditions as well as a variety of substance use disorders,following the instructions of physicians, nurses or other health practitioners.The Behavioral Health Technician monitors a patients’ safety, physical andemotional well-being and report directly to medical staff.

Minimum Requirements:

The Mental / Psychiatric Health Technician cares for individuals with psychiatric conditions as well as a variety of substance use disorders, following the instructions of physicians, nurses or other health practitioners. The Behavioral Health Technician monitors a patients’ safety, physical and emotional well-being and report directly to medical staff.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate’s degree in behavioral studies or related field, or equivalent experience preferred (or per facility requirements)
  • Minimum of one (1) year relevant experience preferred
  • Current CPR if applicable
  • TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable 
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation) 
  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements 
  • Must be at least 18 years of age

36/48 hours Rotating Schedule. GUARANTEED BIWEEKLY OVERTIME

Hours/schedule:

 

7p-7a

12 hour shifts

THIS SCHEDULE GUARANTEES OVERTIME.

36/48 hrs schedule rotating week.

Work every other weekend

 

CANDIDATES CANNOT HAVE SCHEDULE RESTRICTIONS AND MUST HAVE OPEN AVAILABILITY TO MEET THE SCHEDULING NEED OF THE CLIENT. NOT A SET SCHEDULE AND CAN FLUCUATE PER COVERAGE NEEDS.

 

NO PRN / PART TIME – FULL TIME ONLY

 

Qualifications/Licensure:

1+ Full Year of Psych Experience ( Corrections, Detox, Crisis, Treatment Centers etc)

 

Typical job duties & work environment:

Assisting with Daily Living Activities

Restraining Patients

Med Pass

Document and Chart behavior

— ENSURE THEY KNOW THIS IS NOT SIMILAR TO SCHOOLS – THIS IS A TRUE PSYCHIATRIC FACILITY.

 

Specific experience required:

  • MUST HAVE PSYCH EXPERIENCE ( CRISIS HIGHLY PREFERRED) 
  • Experience with youth Psych preferred 
  • This is a facility that takes BAKER ACT PATIENTS- So some patients are there against their will
  • HEAVY YOUTH/JUVENILE POPULATION

Ratios (if applicable):

Normally have 2 RN/3 techs on shift, depending on acuity. If they have multiple 1-1 or an aggressive unit we add additional BHT.

NA

Orientation process:

2-3 Days of training

Include paper work and shadow shifts for days.

Usually Thurs-Fridays but can change.

 

ORIENTATIONS WILL BE DAY SHIFT 8a/9a- 3p/4p etc

 

Dress Code & Parking:

Solid Color Scrubs  ( no Red or Camouflage )

Closed Toes Shoes

Open parking
