Location: Alhambra, CA
Reports To: Program Coordinator / Site Supervisor
Employment Type: Part-Time / Hourly
Schedule: Monday – Friday 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM; Wednesday 1:00pm – 5:00pm

Position Summary:

We are seeking a passionate and energetic Afterschool Program Leader to join our team and support students in a safe, engaging, and enriching afterschool environment. The Program Leader will facilitate academic support, recreational activities, and enrichment programs for elementary or middle school students, fostering positive relationships and promoting youth development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and engage students in structured afterschool activities including homework help, arts & crafts, sports, and STEM projects.
  • Create a welcoming and inclusive environment that promotes respect, teamwork, and learning.
  • Implement daily lesson plans and activities aligned with program goals.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants by following site protocols and behavior management strategies.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and program team.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and incident reports as needed.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; 
  • At least 48 hours of college coursework. Education, child development, or related field preferred.
  • Experience working with youth in educational or recreational settings.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage groups of children and resolve conflicts constructively.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Must pass background check and TB test.

Preferred Skills:

  • Bilingual (Spanish, Mandarin, etc.) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with social-emotional learning (SEL) practices.
  • Creative and resourceful in planning engaging activities.

Compensation:

  • Hourly rate: $18-$22/h
