Special Education Teacher – LBS1 (Elementary Focus) Riverdale, IL 
Location: Riverdale, IL
Rate: $58/hr
Duration: 2025–2026 School Year
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:45 AM – 3:15 PM (35 hours/week)
Caseload: Approximately 6–8 students, mix of resource, pull-out, and some self-contained instruction
Grade Level: PreK–2nd Grade (Caseload may be adjusted to exclude PreK for qualified candidates without ECE endorsement)

Position Summary

The Special Education Teacher provides high-quality services to students with special needs. This role emphasizes collaboration with other educators and active participation in planning and implementing individualized student programs, including specialized instruction and consultation.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university (preferred)
  • Valid state teaching certificate as required by applicable regulations
  • Minimum of one year of teaching experience (preferred)
  • State Teacher Certification:
    • Standard Elementary Teaching (preferred)
    • Standard Secondary Teaching (preferred)
    • Standard Special Teaching (preferred)
  • Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) – required
  • ECE endorsement – preferred, but not required for qualified LBS1 candidates with elementary experience
  • Compliance with all professional standards of practice
  • Current CPR certification (if applicable)
  • TB questionnaire, PPD test, or chest x-ray (if applicable)
  • Current health certificate (as required by applicable regulations)
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age

Additional Notes

  • Caseload is small and instructionally focused
  • No additional classroom support specified
  • Flexibility to adjust caseload for the right candidate without ECE endorsement
