TheSchool Aide is an individual who works with students requiring instructional,and/or behavioral assistance under the supervision of the special educationdepartment, teacher and/or supervising designee. The School Aide may alsoprovide support services to assist students with personal, physical mobilityand therapeutic care needs, as established by a rehabilitation healthpractitioner, social worker or other health care professional.
JobDescription:
ProgramLeaders work directly with students in grade level groups. Here are somebullets that can provide some information about typical tasks:
- Plans and delivers educational literacy, physical fitness, and academic enrichment activities
- Assists in enforcing safety and disciplinary rules in classrooms or playground
- Informs the Youth Specialist of student progress and or challenges
- Observes and records information about student behavior when necessary
- Assists with the maintenance of a clean, healthy, and safe environment of the after school facilities
- Administers first aid or necessary physical assistance to ill or distressed students
- Supervises 20 students, leading groups through educational and extracurricular activities
- Verifies s student attendance various times throughout the program day
- Distributes snack/meal items during supper time
Minimum Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Comply with all relevant professional standards of practice
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
