Educational Sign Language Interpreter

Location: Dallas, TX
Start Date: ASAP (Early August preferred)
Duration: 39 weeks (August 12, 2025 – May 27, 2026)
Hours: 37.5 hours/week
Pay Rate: $40/hr
Interview: In-person
Fingerprinting Required

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Educational Sign Language Interpreter to support deaf and hard-of-hearing students in an educational setting. This role ensures students have full access to classroom instruction, activities, and discussions by interpreting spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa.

Key Details

  • Grade Levels: All grades available; most positions at the high school level
  • Caseload: 1–15 students in general education classrooms
  • Setting: On-site

Minimum Requirements

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Prior interpreting experience
  • BEI Certification required
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Interpreting, Deaf Studies, or related field (preferred)
  • State Board of Education Initial Sign Language Interpreter Certificate (as applicable)
  • Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) certification (as applicable)
  • Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) certification (as applicable)
  • Compliance with professional standards of practice
  • Current CPR certification (if applicable)
  • TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray (if applicable)
  • Current health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
