The School Registered Nurse oversees the application of thenursing process and the delivery of student care in a school setting. TheSchool RN supports the physical, mental and emotional well-being of studentswithin the school setting. The School RN plays an essential role in promotingthe health and safety, responding to medical emergencies, managing chronicconditions and serving as a liaison between families, school staff andhealthcare providers. The School RN provides services in accordance with Amergis’philosophy, standards, policies and physician orders.
Minimum Requirements:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state ofemployment
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferred
- School Nurse Certification as required by state or contract
- One year of school nursing, public health or pediatricexperience, preferred
- Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
The candidates should have the following experience.
· At least one year of nursing experience.
· Pediatrics and/or special needs
· G-tube/J-tube/NG tube experience, bolus and pumps.
· Seizure experience (actually observed seizures) and familiarity with emergency medication for seizures.
