The School Registered Nurse oversees the application of thenursing process and the delivery of student care in a school setting. TheSchool RN supports the physical, mental and emotional well-being of studentswithin the school setting. The School RN plays an essential role in promotingthe health and safety, responding to medical emergencies, managing chronicconditions and serving as a liaison between families, school staff andhealthcare providers. The School RN provides services in accordance with Amergis’philosophy, standards, policies and physician orders.
Minimum Requirements:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state ofemployment
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferred
- School Nurse Certification as required by state or contract
- One year of school nursing, public health or pediatricexperience, preferred
- Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age

Overseeing the health office doing general triage, med passes, ice packs, assessing kids to see if they need to go home or have a parent called, charting office visits, etc. No medically complex kids in the school, no students with diabetes in the school, a handful of seizure action plans to be aware of. |
