Critical Care – Syracuse, NY

The Critical Care Registered Nurse assumes responsibilityand accountability for the application of the nursing process and the deliveryof patient care in a variety of critical care settings. Consistently performsaccording to nursing standards and is accountable in managing patient care andassisting others in the management of patient care. Responsibilities includemonitoring, assessment, vital sign monitoring, ventilator management,medication administration, intravenous insertion and infusion, central linecare, catheters, and maintenance of a running record of the patient’s status.The Critical Care RN must be prepared at all times to perform cardiopulmonaryresuscitation and other lifesaving measures for the patients in their care.

Minimum Requirements: 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assess and monitor critically ill patients with complex medical needs
  • Administer medications, treatments, and IV therapies including vasoactive drugs and sedation
  • Operate and manage advanced life-support equipment such as ventilators, infusion pumps, and cardiac monitors
  • Perform and assist with emergency procedures including intubation, central line placement, and CPR
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and adjust individualized care plans
  • Provide education and emotional support to patients and families
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Adhere to infection control, safety, and quality standards
  • Respond promptly to emergencies including cardiac arrest, respiratory failure, and sepsis
  • Advocate for patients and uphold confidentiality and rights
