The Emergency Department Registered Nurse assumesresponsibility and accountability for the application of the nursing processand the delivery of patient care in the emergency room setting or other emergentcritical care areas.
Minimum Requirements:
- Current Registered Nurse License within the state ofpractice
- Minimum of one year emergency room experience preferred
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
Emergency Room (ER)Registered Nurse (RN)
The ER RN is ahighly skilled and quick-thinking nursing professional responsible fordelivering urgent and life-saving care to patients experiencing acuteillnesses, injuries, and trauma. This role requires strong clinical judgment,rapid decision-making, and the ability to thrive in a high-pressure, fast-pacedenvironment. The ER RN collaborates with physicians, emergency medicaltechnicians, and other healthcare professionals to stabilize patients andinitiate critical interventions.
Essential Duties andResponsibilities
- Triage and assess patients presenting with a wide range of emergency conditions
- Administer medications, treatments, and IV therapies as prescribed
- Monitor and document patient responses and changes in condition
- Initiate and assist with emergency procedures such as CPR, intubation, and wound care
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and adjust care plans
- Prepare patients for diagnostic tests, imaging, and surgical interventions
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, and discharge instructions
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Adhere to infection control, safety, and quality standards
- Respond promptly to critical situations including trauma, cardiac arrest, and stroke
- Advocate for patients and uphold confidentiality and rights
Minimum Requirements
- Current RN license in the state of practice
- Minimum one year of professional nursing experience; ER or critical care experience preferred
- Completion of Amergis’ Competency Program (if applicable)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (PALS preferred)
- TB screening and health clearance (as required)
- Compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Successful completion of new hire orientation and ER training
- Understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality
- Strong communication skills and proficiency in English
- Basic computer literacy
- Must be at least 18 years of age
