Special Education Teacher (LBS1 – Self-Contained Classroom)
Location: Chicago, IL
Start Date: As soon as cleared
End Date: End of School Year (EOY)
Duration: 30 weeks
Schedule: 40 hours/week
Pay Rate: $45/hr
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher with an LBS1 endorsement to lead a self-contained high school classroom. This role is designed for educators passionate about supporting students with social-emotional and behavioral needs. You’ll be responsible for teaching all core subjects and will be supported by a paraprofessional and a behavior technician in each classroom.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide instruction across all subjects in a self-contained setting
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Address social-emotional and behavioral needs of students
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, behavior techs, and school staff
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and district regulations
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university (preferred)
- Valid state teaching certificate (required)
- Standard Elementary, Secondary, or Special Teaching Certification preferred
- LBS1 Endorsement preferred
- Minimum of one year teaching experience (preferred)
- Current CPR certification (if applicable)
- TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray (if applicable)
- Current health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must comply with all professional standards of practice and legal requirements
Modality:
In-person, self-contained classroom instruction with strong behavioral and paraprofessional support.
