The School Registered Nurse oversees the application of the nursing process and the delivery of student care in a school setting. The School RN supports the physical, mental and emotional well-being of students within the school setting. The School RN plays an essential role in promoting the health and safety, responding to medical emergencies, managing chronic conditions and serving as a liaison between families, school staff and healthcare providers. The School RN provides services in accordance with Amergis’ philosophy, standards, policies and physician orders.

Minimum Requirements:

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment
Bachelor’s Degree, preferred
School Nurse Certification as required by state or contract
One year of school nursing, public health or pediatric experience, preferred
Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
Current CPR if applicable
TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age

Length of Contract:	2025 – 2026 school year
Schedule:	TBD
Hours/Week (Paid/Unpaid Lunch):	Depend on the student being able to withstand a full day 30 min unpaid lunch
Position Details (Age group, Caseload, Duties):	Male HS student HOURS: Part time to full time depending if the student can withstand a full time (hours may gradually increase) Tube feeds by pump at 9:30 and 1:30, strict NPO CPAP by mask at all times wheelchair/hoyer lift for transfers Incontinent of stool/urine, uses briefs Oral/nasal suctioning via yankauer as needed to manage secretions Frequent repositioning Bus Ride REQUIRED The nurse would need to do training with the family on his care before they start. The 1:1 nurse goes to Andrew’s house in the morning, rides the bus to school with him and also back to his house at the end of the day. Andrea (Mom) will be able to give the nurse a better idea of when that training can be scheduled and what the timeline for a typical day looks like for Andrew at home/school.
