The Psychiatric/Mental Health (PMH) Registered Nurse plays a vital role in promoting mental wellness and providing compassionate care to individuals experiencing mental health and substance use disorders. This role requires a broad range of nursing, psychosocial, and neurobiological expertise.

PMH RNs are responsible for prevention, education, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment within a variety of care settings. They demonstrate strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and coordination skills to deliver comprehensive care to individuals, families, and communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and monitor mental health conditions
  • Administer medications and therapeutic interventions
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
  • Educate patients and families on mental health management
  • Promote a safe and supportive environment

Minimum Requirements:

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
  • Current CPR certification (if applicable)
  • TB screening (PPD, chest x-ray, or questionnaire as required)
  • Current health certificate (as required by contract or state regulations)
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
