GOAL
The job of Compliance Specialist was established to provide quality compliance on local, state, and federal procedures related to IDEA in order to ensure students receive FAPE. Candidate will report to Special Services Director
Education: Bachelor’s degree in special education and at least 3 years of successful teaching in the area of special education with a strong background in compliance.
Essential Knowledge/Skills: Extensive knowledge of federal, state and local regulations governing special education, judicial decisions relative to special education and students with disabilities. Extensive knowledge of various interventions in working with students with disabilities in the school setting. Must have an understanding of statewide assessments and the ability to discuss student’s progress as it relates to assessments. Must be able to analyze progress monitoring data to assist teachers with interventions and monitoring a student’s progress in the general education as well as special education settings. Must possess personal characteristics and professional conduct to successfully interact with teachers, administrators and the public. Should be detailed oriented in order to ensure compliance with state rules and regulations regarding IEP/Eligibility dates, appropriateness and implementation. Should have an understanding of Assistive Technology, Functional Behavioral Assessments, Behavior Intervention Plans and Transition plans.
The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of theSpecial Education Program Administrator provides quality services to specialeducation students, kindergarten through grade 12. The Special Education Teacher has acommitment to team participation in planning and implementation of studentprograms including special instruction, tutorial assistance and consultationwith general education staff.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited universitypreferred
- Valid state teaching certificate as required by state,contract/district regulations
- Minimum of one year experience in teaching environmentpreferred
- State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard ElementaryTeaching preferred
- State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard SecondaryTeaching preferred
- State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Special Teachingpreferred
- Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred
- Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
