Special Education Teacher – Mild/Moderate | High School | $45–$50/hr | Full-Time | Southern California

Amergis Educational Staffing is seeking a full-time Special Education Teacher to support a high school in Southern California. This 10-week assignment begins ASAP and runs through November 3, 2025. The role covers back-to-back leaves for two educators and includes a mix of self-contained mild/moderate instruction and co-teaching in general education English classes. One period of mild/moderate Biology is also included. The teacher will be expected to attend IEP meetings and contribute to IEP development, with support from a TOSA and program specialist.

Position Overview

  • Location: Southern California (exact city provided upon submission)

  • Start Date: ASAP

  • End Date: November 3, 2025

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM

  • Hours: 37.5 hours/week

  • Duration: 10 weeks

  • Pay Rate: $45–$50/hr (local); travel pay available

  • Setting: High School, mild/moderate SPED

  • Caseload: 25–28 students

  • Format: In-person only

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction in mild/moderate self-contained and co-taught English classes

  • Teach one period of mild/moderate Biology

  • Attend and contribute to IEP meetings

  • Collaborate with general education staff and support personnel

  • Implement individualized education plans and monitor student progress

Minimum Requirements

  • Active California Education Specialist credential (Mild/Moderate)

  • Prior experience in high school SPED settings

  • CPR certification (if applicable)

  • TB screening and health certificate (if applicable)

  • Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
