Special Education Teacher – Full-Time (K–12)

Start Date: August 26, 2025
Duration: Full School Year (9 months)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM

Position Overview

We are seeking two dedicated Special Education Teachers to join our team—one for a high school classroom and one for a middle/elementary classroom. Under the guidance of the Special Education Program Administrator, you will deliver high-quality educational services to students with special needs, focusing on individualized instruction, life skills development, and case management.

This is a non-inclusion model, working primarily in self-contained classrooms with students on the autism spectrum. You will play a key role in developing and implementing IEPs, managing caseloads, and collaborating with general education staff to support student success.

Key Responsibilities

Provide specialized instruction to students with disabilities (K–12)
Develop and manage Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Deliver life skills curriculum aimed at certificate of completion
Maintain accurate documentation using MOIEP (training provided)
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and families
Support students in self-contained classrooms (typical ratio: 4 staff to 6–8 students)
Participate in on-site orientation and ongoing professional development

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (preferred)
Valid Maryland Special Education Teaching License (required)
Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred
Minimum 1 year of experience working with autistic students
Familiarity with life skills curriculum and autism support strategies
CPR certification, TB screening, and health clearance as required
