Special Education Teacher – Full-Time (K–12)

Start Date: August 26, 2025
Duration: Full School Year (9 months)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM

Position Overview

We are seeking two dedicated Special Education Teachers to join our team—one for a high school classroom and one for a middle/elementary classroom. Under the guidance of the Special Education Program Administrator, you will deliver high-quality educational services to students with special needs, focusing on individualized instruction, life skills development, and case management.

This is a non-inclusion model, working primarily in self-contained classrooms with students on the autism spectrum. You will play a key role in developing and implementing IEPs, managing caseloads, and collaborating with general education staff to support student success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized instruction to students with disabilities (K–12)
  • Develop and manage Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Deliver life skills curriculum aimed at certificate of completion
  • Maintain accurate documentation using MOIEP (training provided)
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and families
  • Support students in self-contained classrooms (typical ratio: 4 staff to 6–8 students)
  • Participate in on-site orientation and ongoing professional development

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (preferred)
  • Valid Maryland Special Education Teaching License (required)
  • Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with autistic students
  • Familiarity with life skills curriculum and autism support strategies
  • CPR certification, TB screening, and health clearance as required
