Job Title: Special Education Teacher

Start Date: August 26, 2025
Duration: Full School Year (9 months)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM

Position Summary:

The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, provides high-quality instructional services to students with special needs from kindergarten through 12th grade. This role requires a collaborative approach to planning and implementing individualized programs, including direct instruction, case management, and consultation with general education staff. The position is focused on self-contained classrooms, working with students on the autism spectrum and those following a life skills curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction to students in a self-contained classroom setting
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Provide case management and maintain accurate student records
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support student success
  • Utilize the MOIEP system for documentation (training provided)
  • Support students working toward a certificate of completion
  • Maintain a safe, supportive, and structured classroom environment
  • Participate in school-based meetings, professional development, and orientation

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university (preferred)
  • Valid Maryland Special Education Teaching License (required)
  • Endorsement in Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred
  • Minimum of one year of experience teaching students with autism (required)
