School Nurse (RN) – Apex NC

 

Location: Apex, NC

Contract Duration: 4 Weeks – With Possibility of Extension

Schedule: 25-30 Hours Per Week

Start Date: ASAP

 

Job Description: 

The School Registered Nurse oversees the application of thenursing process and the delivery of student care in a school setting. TheSchool RN supports the physical, mental and emotional well-being of studentswithin the school setting. The School RN plays an essential role in promotingthe health and safety, responding to medical emergencies, managing chronicconditions and serving as a liaison between families, school staff andhealthcare providers. The School RN provides services in accordance with Amergis’philosophy, standards, policies and physician orders.  

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized care and oversight for diabetic students, ensuring safe and effective management of their health needs throughout the school day.
  • Deliver training and support to school staff on diabetes care protocols, including insulin administration, glucose monitoring, and emergency response procedures.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and leader, offering guidance and mentorship to staff members to build confidence and competence in managing diabetic students.
  • Collaborate with families, healthcare providers, and school personnel to develop and implement individualized health plans for diabetic students.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferred
  • School Nurse Certification as required by state or contract
  • One year of school nursing, public health or pediatric experience, preferred 
  • Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
