The Part-Time Reading Specialist provides targeted instructional services to students receiving Tier II and Tier III reading interventions. This position involves working with individual students and small groups who are not yet meeting grade-level reading benchmarks. The Reading Specialist also monitors and communicates student progress, collaborates with staff and families, and supports data-driven instructional planning.

Qualifications:

  • Reading Teacher License (Wisconsin #1316 or equivalent) preferred, or willingness to obtain
  • Reading Specialist License (#5017) preferred, or willingness to obtain
  • Strong understanding of reading development, research-based interventions, and data-driven instruction
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality reading instruction to individual students and small groups
  • Create a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment
  • Use formative and summative data to inform instruction and monitor progress toward grade-level benchmarks
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, and families to support student learning
  • Implement research-based reading strategies and interventions tailored to student needs
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of student performance and interventions
  • Share data with grade-level teams to support collaborative decision-making
  • Administer diagnostic reading assessments as needed
  • Participate in school and district-level training, including observation and feedback cycles for intervention instruction
  • Perform other duties as assigned by administration
