Amergis Staffing is currently seeking highly skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for Correctional assignments in Hampton, VA.
Position Details:
· Contract Length: 26 Weeks (Extensions Available)

· Shift Length: 12hr Shifts – 36hr/48hr Rotating Schedule
· Start Date: ASAP
· Schedule: 7a-7p or 7p-7a
Must have Active VA State or Compact License
The Corrections Licensed Practical Nurse works in close and immediate contact with adults and children in custody on a daily basis providing general and emergency nursing care in the Medical and Ambulatory section of the Corrections Facility while maintaining facility security standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Utilizes the nursing process to plan, implement, treat and evaluate the patient/inmate
- Integrates and implements referrals of inmates to the staff physician, nurse practitioner, dentist, mental health professional
- Looks for signs and symptoms indicating physiologic and psychosocial changes in the patient’s condition and reports to RN and/or physician
- Collaborates with RN regarding the plan of care according to evaluation, changes in medical plan of care, and effective/ineffective nursing interventions
- Documents patient’s response to nursing and other interventions
- Monitors the safety and effectiveness of the environment and equipment
- Participates in infection control activities as directed by Infection Control Coordinator and/or nursing supervisor
- Participates in the orientation and continuing education of staff as applicable
- Participates in the Health Quality Improvement Program as applicable
- Adheres to all facility policy and procedure
- Follow security guidelines and protocol on tools/sharps counts and ingress/egress policies at all times
- Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
Minimum Requirements:
- Possesses a current Practical Nursing License in the applicable state
- Minimum of one year experience in Corrections preferred
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
