  • Position: Registered Nurse – DDA
  • Location: Salisbury, MD
  • Openings: 6 PRN openings
    • 2 – Day shifts – 6:30am-3:00pm – M-F
    • 2 – Evening shifts – 2:30pm-11:00pm – M-F
    • 2 – Day or Evening shifts – Solely weekends (Fri-Sun)
  • Hours: 8-hour shifts
  • Pay Rate: $50/hr
  • Contract Duration: 8 weeks with a chance of extension
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Primary Duties:
    • Management of Nursing Care: Oversee nursing care and ensure the comfort of individuals on a unit during a designated shift.
    • Supervision and Evaluation: Assist with the supervision and evaluation of personnel on a designated shift
    • G-Tube Management: Care for individuals with gastrostomy tubes (G-Tubes) for feeding and medication administration.
    • Seizure Management: Monitoring and managing residents with seizure disorders, including the use of Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS) devices.
    • Chest Physiotherapy (Chest PT): Providing respiratory care, including chest physiotherapy to help clear airway secretions.
  • Required Skills: A minimum of 1 year of recent/relative experience as an RN in a clinical setting.
    • Prior/recent experience working with individuals with developmental/intellectual disabilities highly preferred.
    • RNs in any previous clinical setting (Tele, ED, ICU, LTC, Hospice, Behavioral, etc.) will be considered.
    • Empathy and compassion are vital traits that interested candidates must have in order to be successful in this role.
  • Specific licensure and certifications/registrations required: MD or Compact license and CPR.
  • Interview process: Interviews can be phone, virtual, or in-person
  • EMR: Paper charting
  • Nurse/Patient Ratio: No more than 16 residents in each building (current ratios at 13)
    • 1 Nurse and 4 Direct Care Associates (DCA’s) in two buildings at all times
    • 1 Nurse and 2 Direct Care Associates (DCA’s) in other two buildings (nurse floats between both of these locations) – Unlikely that Amergis nurse will work in either of these two specific buildings.
  • Timekeeping: Employees will log hours on a paper timesheet that is provided on-site and then input the same exact hours into their MaxView virtual timesheet
  • Dress Code: Any colored scrubs
  • Parking: Free parking
  • Orientation:
    • 3-day orientation
    • Employee will meet with the Staff Development Director to complete 7 core courses on-site that are required through the DDA.
    • Charting, training on paperwork, profile sheets, etc.
    • Nurse will then train on the floor
    • Orientation is scheduled during the day for both dayshift and nightshift nurses.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current Registered Nurse License for the state in which the nurse practices
  • Current CPR if applicable
  • TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable 
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation) 
  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements 
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
