The SpecialEducation Teacher is responsible for educating students with physical,emotional, mental, or learning disabilities. They adapt general educationlessons and teach various subjects to students with mild to moderatedisabilities. Their goal is to help students achieve academic, social, andemotional milestones through individualized instruction and support.
KeyResponsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs.
- Adapt curriculum materials and teaching methods to suit students’ learning styles and abilities.
- Provide small group or one-on-one instruction in and outside the classroom.
- Use specialized tools and techniques (e.g., Braille, sign language, assistive technology).
- Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting teaching strategies as needed.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, counselors, and parents.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and IEP compliance.
- Prepare students for transitions (e.g., grade advancement, vocational training).
- Manage classroom behavior and implement appropriate interventions.
- Communicate regularly with parents about student progress and challenges.
RequiredQualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education (Master’s preferred).
- Valid state certification in Special Education.
- Experience working with children with diverse disabilities.
- Strong understanding of special education laws and teaching methodologies.
- Excellent communication, patience, and problem-solving skills.
