Job Summary:

Amergis is seeking skilled and compassionate American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreters to support our clients by facilitating effective communication between Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing individuals and hearing individuals. These roles offer flexible scheduling and can be performed remotely or in person, depending on assignment needs and candidate availability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide accurate and culturally appropriate ASL interpretation in various settings (e.g., educational, medical, professional).
  • Interpret spoken language into ASL and vice versa during meetings, appointments, and other interactions.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards and ethics.
  • Collaborate with team members and clients to ensure communication needs are met.
  • Prepare for assignments by reviewing relevant materials and terminology.
Qualifications:
  • Fluency in American Sign Language and English.
  • Certification from RID (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior experience in ASL interpretation (minimum 1 year preferred).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to various environments.
  • Reliable internet connection and appropriate equipment for remote assignments (if applicable).
Ages: 6th and 7th graders
