Job Summary:
Amergis is seeking skilled and compassionate American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreters to support our clients by facilitating effective communication between Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing individuals and hearing individuals. These roles offer flexible scheduling and can be performed remotely or in person, depending on assignment needs and candidate availability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate and culturally appropriate ASL interpretation in various settings (e.g., educational, medical, professional).
- Interpret spoken language into ASL and vice versa during meetings, appointments, and other interactions.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards and ethics.
- Collaborate with team members and clients to ensure communication needs are met.
- Prepare for assignments by reviewing relevant materials and terminology.
Qualifications:
- Fluency in American Sign Language and English.
- Certification from RID (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) or equivalent preferred.
- Prior experience in ASL interpretation (minimum 1 year preferred).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to various environments.
- Reliable internet connection and appropriate equipment for remote assignments (if applicable).
