Amergis is seeking compassionate, reliable, and safety-conscious Residential Aide / Mental Health Technician to join our team. This role supports the daily operations of a secure inpatient psychiatric facility, providing direct care and supervision to patients experiencing acute mental health crises.

 

Location: Santa Barbara, CA

Pay Rate: $23/hour (paid weekly)

Schedule: Per diem with potential for full-time hours

Shifts: 12-hour shifts with flexible scheduling

 

Key Responsibilities:

– Monitor and ensure the safety and well-being of patients in a locked psychiatric setting

– Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including hygiene, meals, and mobility

– Observe and report changes in patient behavior or condition to clinical staff

– Support therapeutic activities and group sessions under licensed staff direction

– Maintain accurate documentation of patient interactions, incidents, and observations

– Prepare and serve meals cafeteria-style (Food Handler’s Card required)

– Follow facility policies, including de-escalation and crisis intervention protocols

– Participate in shift handovers and communicate effectively with the care team

– Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the facility

Qualifications:

– Experience in behavioral health or psychiatric care required

– EMT certification is a plus

– Comfortable working with high-acuity psychiatric patients

– Food Handler’s Card (or willingness to obtain)

– Strong communication and crisis management skills
