Position Summary:
Seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to lead a semi-self-contained classroom for middle school students with diverse learning needs. The ideal candidate will provide individualized instruction, foster a supportive learning environment, and collaborate with general education staff to ensure student success across settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s academic, social, and emotional needs.
- Deliver differentiated instruction in core subjects (e.g., ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies) within a semi-self-contained setting.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusion opportunities and co-teaching models.
- Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies and behavior management techniques.
- Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals and state standards.
- Communicate regularly with families, related service providers, and support staff.
- Create a structured, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes independence and self-advocacy.
- Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and professional development activities.
- Maintain compliance with IDEA, state regulations, and district policies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or related field.
- Valid New Hampshire teaching certification in Special Education (e.g., K–8 or 5–12).
- Experience working with students with mild to moderate disabilities (e.g., learning disabilities, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders).
- Strong understanding of differentiated instruction, behavioral supports, and assistive technology.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
