Medical-Surgical/TelemetryRegistered Nurse (RN)
The Med-Surg/Telemetry RN is a skilled and compassionatenursing professional responsible for delivering comprehensive care to adultpatients with a wide range of medical, surgical, and cardiac monitoring needs.This role requires strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and the ability tomanage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The RNcollaborates with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and support staff toensure safe, effective, and patient-centered care.
EssentialDuties and Responsibilities
- Apply the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for adult patients with diverse medical, surgical, and telemetry needs
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical exams, health histories, and cardiac rhythm interpretation
- Monitor telemetry and respond to cardiac rhythm changes, alarms, and arrhythmias
- Administer medications, treatments, and IV therapies as prescribed
- Monitor and document patient responses to interventions and changes in condition
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to develop and adjust individualized care plans
- Prepare patients for diagnostic tests, procedures, and surgeries
- Provide preoperative and postoperative care, including wound care, pain management, and mobility support
- Educate patients and families on disease processes, medications, discharge instructions, and self-care
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Adhere to infection control, safety, and quality standards
- Respond promptly to emergencies such as rapid deterioration, arrhythmias, falls, or code situations
- Support patient advocacy and uphold patient rights and confidentiality
MinimumRequirements
- Current Registered Nurse License in the state of practice
- Minimum one year of professional nursing experience; Med-Surg/Telemetry experience preferred
- Completion of Amergis’ Competency Program (if applicable)
- Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred)
- Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation and telemetry monitoring
- TB screening and health clearance (as required by contract or regulation)
- Compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations
- Successful completion of new hire orientation and Med-Surg/Tele training
- Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations
- Strong communication skills and proficiency in English
- Basic computer literacy
- Must be at least 18 years of age
