Boston Public Schools seeks a SchoolPsychologist to provide psychological services to students agespre-school through 22 years old who attend public, private, and parochialschools in Boston. These services include diagnostic, prescriptive, andremedial services, delivered individually and/or in group situations, andthrough consultation with other professionals.
Reports To: Assistant Director of PsychologicalServices
Responsibilities
1. Provides psychologicaland educational evaluations in a timely manner for Boston students whoattend public, private, and parochial schools.
2. Participates actively inIndividualized Educational Planning Meetings in order to producecomprehensive and appropriate educational plans for students being evaluated.
3. Provides teachers andother professionals with consultation services that will assist them inhelping each student reach his/her potential in the least restrictiveeducational environment.
4. Conducts classroomscreening to assist teachers in planning effective educational strategiesfor all students.
5. Provides prevention andcounseling services as needed, both individually and in small groups.
6. Provides intervention asneeded and is a member of the crisis response team.
7. Participates as a memberof the AAF Service Team in the schools to which the psychologist isassigned.
8. Works cooperatively withall members of the Office of Special Education and Student Services team,as well as all school staff to enhance the services offered to all studentsin the school system.
9. Performs other relatedduties as requested by the Assistant Director of Psychological Services.
Qualifications Required
- Licensed as a School Psychologist by the Massachusetts Department of Education
- Demonstration of competency in the theory, administration, and interpretation of recognized standardized instruments
- Ability to efficiently write comprehensive and informative reports that contain appropriate educational goals. All reports must be computer generated in English
Qualification-Preferred
- Background and experience in an urban setting providing educational and psychological services
- Licensed Educational Psychologist
