Amergis Staffing is seeking English as a Second Language paraprofessionals. The ESL paraprofessional is an individual who works with students requiring instructional, and/or behavioral assistance under the supervision of the special education department and/or supervising designee.
Must Be Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to the following fundamental duties
· Review instructional plans with the classroom teacher in order to implement daily instruction.
· Assists in planning and arranging a physical classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
· Assists in making teaching materials available as needed by the teacher.
· Assists children during learning and planned activity time as new materials are introduced.
· Reinforces materials introduced by the teacher.
· Assists in supervising field trips, walking tours and bus trips.
· Assists in planning for speakers to come into the classroom.
· Participates in in-service training programs.
· Participates in parental conferences.
· Assists in carrying out the classroom activities.
· Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
· This position may need assisting with toileting, feeding, and other personal care when applicable. Will require paras to participate in bus duty, door duty, and lunch duty as needed.
· Other duties may be assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or its equivalent. Bilingual (English/Spanish) with a preference for bicultural. Willingness to work with others in a cooperative manner.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Ability to follow written and verbal direction.
- Ability to read, write and do simple computations.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
REASONING ABILITY:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to exercise good judgment in prioritizing tasks.
