The School Registered Nurse oversees the application of the nursing process and the delivery of student care in a school setting. The School RN supports the physical, mental and emotional well-being of students within the school setting. The School RN plays an essential role in promoting the health and safety, responding to medical emergencies, managing chronic conditions and serving as a liaison between families, school staff and healthcare providers. The School RN provides services in accordance with Amergis’ philosophy, standards, policies and physician orders.
Minimum Requirements:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferred
- School Nurse Certification as required by state or contract
- One year of school nursing, public health or pediatric experience, preferred
- Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
General Comments
Position: Full-Time School RN
Location: Catholic Academy (PreK–8) & Niagara Falls City School District Bus Depot
Schedule:
- Start Date: Last week of August 2025
- End Date: June 26, 2026
- Hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (with slight flexibility based on bus schedules)
Responsibilities:
- Provide nursing care to students during school hours at Catholic Academy
- Support students with chronic conditions such as diabetes and seizure disorders
- Participate in the afternoon auxiliary bus run, ensuring student safety and medical support
- Collaborate with school staff and district nurses to review and manage student health plans
Requirements:
- Current RN license in New York State
- Experience with pediatric or school nursing preferred
- Ability to adapt to changing student needs and schedules
- Strong communication and organizational skills
