The Amergis Educational Services Team is currentlyseeking certified American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters for schools for theFull 2025-26 School Year.

 

PositionDetails: 

Schedule: Monday-Friday

Start Date: August 2025

Length of Contract: 2025-26 school year (high possibility ofextension into the following school year and option to go internal directlywith school)

Requirements: 

 

• Sixty (60) or more college credit hours or anAssociate’s degree or higher from an accredited school or a passing score onthe Para Pro exam required.

• Must be certified in AmericanSign Language.

The Educational Sign Language Interpreter is a trainedprofessional who facilities communication between deaf or hard-of-hearingstudents and others within an educational setting. Often, American SignLanguage (ASL) is used to interpret spoken language into sign language and viceversa, which ensures students have accommodations to classroom instruction,activities and learning discussions. 

 

MinimumRequirements: 

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language 
  • Associates degree or Bachelors degree in interpreting, deaf studies or related field, preferred 
  • State Board of Education Initial Sign Language Interpreter Certificate (as applicable)
  • Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) certificate (as applicable per state regulation or client requirement)
  • Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) certification ( as applicable per state regulation or client requirement)
  • Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice 
  • Current CPR if applicable 
  • TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable 
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation) 
  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements 
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
