Job Title: English as a Second Language (ESOL) Teacher
Location: St. Louis, Missouri
Job Type: Full-Time
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate ESOL Teacher to join our educational team in St. Louis, Missouri. The ESOL Teacher will provide instruction and support to students whose primary language is not English, helping them develop language proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of language acquisition and cultural diversity, and will be committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging ESOL lessons that meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Assess students’ language proficiency and progress, and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to support ESOL students in all subject areas.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with specific language needs.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and resources to enhance language learning.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about students’ progress and needs.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in ESOL education.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in TESOL, Education, or a related field
- Missouri teaching certification with an ESOL endorsement.
- Experience teaching English language learners (ELLs) at the K-12 level.
- Strong understanding of second language acquisition theories and practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and community members.
