The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of theSpecial Education Program Administrator provides quality services to specialeducation students, kindergarten through grade 12. The Special Education Teacher has a commitmentto team participation in planning and implementation of student programsincluding special instruction, tutorial assistance and consultation withgeneral education staff.
8 hrs/day- position will go from beginning of school year till end
Certified Sped Teacher (Resource 3), Grades 5 & 6
Provide individualized instruction in a self-contained, alternative curriculum classroom for students with severe/profound disabilities. Supervise 2-3 paraeducators assigned to the classroom. Anticipated caseload of 8-10 students.
Certified Sped Teacher (Resource 2), Grades 7 & 8
Provide pull out instruction for Reading, Math and social skills for students with severe learning disabilities and mild/moderate intellectual disabilities. Supervise 2-3 instructional support paraeducators assigned to the classroom. Anticipated caseload of 22 students with IEPs.
Certified Sped Teacher (Resource 1), will serve one grade level, either 5th or 6th –
Provide co-taught instruction in English Language Arts and Math at the 5th or 5th grade level. Also, provide small group social skills instruction to targeted groups of students. Anticipated caseload of 30 students with IEPs.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited universitypreferred
- Valid state teaching certificate as required by state,contract/district regulations
- Minimum of one year experience in teaching environmentpreferred
- State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard ElementaryTeaching preferred
- State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard SecondaryTeaching preferred
- State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Special Teachingpreferred
- Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
