The Amergis Educational Services Team is currently seeking Sign Language Interpreters (SLI) for schools within Lakeland, Winter Haven, Bartow and surrounding areas for the Full 2025-26 School Year.
Position Details:
Pay: $35 per hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday
Start Date: August 2025
Length of Contract: 2025-26 school year (high possibility of extension into the following school year and option to go internal directly with school)

Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree
- Hold a level 3.5 – 5.0 Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) with a passing score on the EIPA knowledge exam or National Certification
- Proficiency in American Sign Language and extensive sign language vocabulary

The Educational Sign Language Interpreter is a trained professional who facilities communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and others within an educational setting. Often, American Sign Language (ASL) is used to interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa, which ensures students have accommodations to classroom instruction, activities and learning discussions.
Minimum Requirements:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language
- Associates degree or Bachelors degree in interpreting, deaf studies or related field, preferred
- State Board of Education Initial Sign Language Interpreter Certificate (as applicable)
- Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) certificate (as applicable per state regulation or client requirement)
- Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) certification ( as applicable per state regulation or client requirement)
- Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
