TheSpeech-Language Pathologist in the school setting is responsible for performingstudent evaluations as well as providing and documenting therapy services inaccordance with the plan of care developed for each individual student and thephysician’s orders.
EssentialDuties and Responsibilities:
Assessesstudents’ communication skills (e.g. articulations, fluency, voice, expressiveand receptive language, etc.) for the purpose of identifying communicationdisorders, determining program eligibility and developing recommendations fortreatment
Collaborateswith a variety of groups and/or individuals for the purpose of communicatinginformation, resolving issues and providing services in compliance withestablished guidelines
Coordinatesmeetings and processes for eligible students (e.g. testing/screening, IEPs,parent conferences, pre-referral staffing, etc.) for the purpose of presentingevaluation results, developing treatment plans, and/or providing training toparents/students/staff
Developstreatment plans, interventions and/or educational materials for the purpose ofminimizing the adverse impact of communication disorders in compliance withregulatory requirements
Instructseligible students in the use of appropriate communication technologies (e.g.hearing aids, FM systems, augmentative communication devices, etc.)
Maintainsfiles and/or records (e.g. progress reports, activity logs, billinginformation, treatment plans, required documentation, quarterly reports,screening results, etc.)
Participatesin meetings, workshops, and seminars (e.g. training, IEPs, team meetings, etc.)
Providesspeech and language therapy to students for the purpose of minimizing theadverse impact of speech and language disorders on student success
Seeksappropriate in-service and professional development
