PayRate: $30-35/HR
The SchoolNurse assumes responsibility and accountability for the application of thenursing process and the delivery of student/client care and/or contractedservices in a school setting. The School Nurse may also be in a supervisoryposition within the contracted services. The School Nurse provides services inaccordance with Amergis Healthcare Staffing’s philosophy, standards, policiesand physician orders.
Essential Duties andResponsibilities:
- Utilizes the nursing process to plan, implement and evaluate student’s care needs
- Demonstrates on each assignment the provision of skill nursing care in accordance with prescribed orders/IHP
- Performs interventions, treatments and medications administration according to the identified priorities as outlined in the IHP
- Monitors and documents effectiveness of interventions, treatments and medications
- Completes documentation per client expectations
- Coordinates and facilitates services as requested between the school, local health agencies and other community resources to meet the needs of the student
- Communicates with the school district personnel about student’s plan of care/IHP
- Notifies District School Nurse/Amergis Supervisor /Parent/Physician as outlined in the IHP regarding the following:
Changes in conditionof student
Physiciannotification to obtain necessary orders
Collaborates withschool/education personnel/other health agencies as requested, to design andmeet student’s health care needs
Evaluates andassures student safety at all times
Adheres to Amergisand school district policies
Maintains accuracyin student health record
Supportsprofessional practice by observing the following:

Standards of NursingPractice
Standards of PatientCare
Standards ofaccrediting body (The Joint Commission)
State laws
Educational Codesand Federal Laws as described in the ADA and IDEA
Patient Bill ofRights
Amergis Healthcareand school district policies
- At request of school district participates in student care conferences/Individualized Education Program (IEP)
- LPN/LVNs should direct questions regarding orders and changes in condition to a Supervising RN (DN and/or Clinical Supervisor)
- Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
Minimum Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited registered, practical or vocational nursing program
- Licensed as a Licensed Practical, Licensed Vocational or Registered Nurse in state(s) where practicing
- One year of professional experience, preferred
- Complies with accepted professional standard and practice
- Willingness to participate in skill advancement, if applicable
- Participation and completion of Amergis’ Competency program
- Current CPR
- PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
- Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
- Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
- Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language may be required
