The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator provides quality services to special education students, kindergarten through grade 12. The Special Education Teacher has a commitment to team participation in planning and implementation of student programs including special instruction, tutorial assistance and consultation with general education staff.
Moderate/Severe Special Education Teacher, California Start Date: August 2025 Employment Type: Full-Time | 2025–2026 School Year
Position Overview We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Moderate/Severe Special Education Teacher to join our team of educators dedicated to inclusive, student-centered learning. This role serves students with significant cognitive, behavioral, and physical challenges in grades K–12. Under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, the teacher will provide individualized instruction, life skills training, and behavioral support in alignment with each student’s IEP.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)

Deliver functional academic and life skills instruction

Support students with autism, intellectual disabilities, and multiple impairments

Collaborate with general education staff, therapists, and families

Supervise and train paraprofessionals in the classroom

Maintain compliance with IDEA, state, and district regulations
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (Master’s preferred)

Valid California Education Specialist Credential – Moderate/Severe Disabilities

At least one year of experience in a special education setting (preferred)

Strong classroom management and communication skills

CPR certification, TB clearance, and health certificate (as required)
Preferred Skills

Experience with AAC devices, sensory integration, or behavioral intervention plans

Familiarity with TEACCH, ABA, or structured teaching models

Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus
