The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator provides quality services to special education students, kindergarten through grade 12.  The Special Education Teacher has a commitment to team participation in planning and implementation of student programs including special instruction, tutorial assistance and consultation with general education staff.  

Mild/Moderate Special Education Teacher Location: Atascadero, California Start Date: August 2025 Employment Type: Full-Time | 2025–2026 School Year

Position Overview We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Mild/Moderate Special Education Teacher to join our team of educators committed to inclusive, student-centered learning. Under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, the teacher will provide specialized instruction and support to students in grades K–12 with mild to moderate disabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)

  • Deliver differentiated instruction aligned with Common Core standards

  • Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and families

  • Provide academic and behavioral support in inclusive and pull-out settings

  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (required; Master’s preferred)

  • Valid California Education Specialist Credential – Mild/Moderate

  • At least one year of teaching experience (preferred)

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills

  • CPR certification, TB clearance, and health certificate (as required)

Preferred Endorsements

  • Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1)

  • Standard Elementary or Secondary Teaching Credential

Pay rate is for candidates 50+ miles away from site. Local pay rate is $60/hr
