Registered Nurse – STI Clinic Role
Job Title: RN – STI Clinic(Sexually Transmitted Infections)
Location: Fayetteville, NC
Contract Duration: 13 weeks(extension options)
Hourly Rate: $35/hr (travel rates available)
Start Date: 6/23 or 6/30
Work Schedule: Monday toFriday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Job Description:
This position willbe to aid clients and staff and supplement the nursing staff in the SexuallyTransmitted Infections (STI) Clinic. Due to staffing shortages and increasedSTI needs throughout the community, it would be beneficial to have a dedicatedstaff member to assist with the Express Clinic. The Express Clinic nurse willwork under standing orders to assist asymptomatic patients in receivingnecessary screenings. This will allow our providers to see symptomatic patientsand increase patient visits for both general and no-problem exams.
JobRoles/Responsibilities:
- Interviews patient to obtain chief complaint and pertinent medical information for state-mandated STI screenings.
- Initiates diagnostic and therapeutic measures as indicated by standing protocols.
- Escalates patient concerns/needs and intervention as appropriate.
- Communicates and acts as liaison with patients, family, and health professionals in a manner that respects confidentiality and dignity.
- Coordinates the needs of the patient with supporting departments and assists in solving problems related to the welfare of patient and staff.
- Charts concisely, descriptively, and timely as necessary in EMR.
- Performs nursing procedures safely and efficiently.
- Demonstrates understanding and compliance with STI Clinic, CCDPH policies and procedures as well as state and CDC guidelines and recommendations.
- Participates in mandatory in-services and staff meetings.
- Assists clinical staff when necessary to include chaperone, treatments, laboratory reconciliation, etc.,
- Participates in outreach services as needed.
- Can cross-train as treatment nurse to provide treatment and education to patients during discharge.
RequiredSkills/Abilities:
- Must have demonstrated knowledge and skills to provide appropriate care to all age groups.
- Must be able to make good professional decisions quickly in high-volume environment.
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to evolving needs of community, clinic, and organization.
Education andExperience:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current state license as a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse.
- CPR certified.
- Minimum of one year of experience in nursing field regardless of specialty.
PhysicalRequirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for extensive periods of time.
- Manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to provide nursing care and complete documentation.
- Ability to stoop, squat, or bend frequently.
- Corrected vision and hearing within normal range to observe and communicate with patients and professional staff.
- Exposure to patient elements including communicable disease and bloodborne pathogens.
- Must be able to wear N95 respirator.
