Position Overview:
- Location: Shawnee Mission, KS
- Compensation: $43/hour
- Hours: 40/week
- Schedule: Monday-Friday (No nights, No weekends, No holidays)
- Weekly Pay + Benefits!
- Start: July 28, 2025
What You’ll Do:
As an O&M Specialist, you will:
- Design and deliver engaging, individualized instruction to students with visual impairments.
- Teach safe, independent travel skills in a variety of environments—school, home, and community.
- Foster students’ confidence, problem-solving abilities, and social-emotional growth.
- Collaborate with educators, families, and support staff to create comprehensive learning plans.
- Monitor progress and adapt strategies to meet each student’s unique needs and goals.
What We’re Looking For:
- A valid state teaching certificate (as required by state regulations)
- At least one year of experience in an educational or learning environment (preferred)
- Current CPR certification (if applicable)
- TB Questionnaire, PPD test, or chest x-ray (if applicable)
- Current health certificate (as required by contract or state regulation)
- Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age

The Teacher Orientation and Mobility (O&M) Specialistprovides students with appropriate learning experiences and activities designedto help them in social, intellectual, and emotional growth. The Teacher Orientation and Mobility enable studentsto develop competencies and skills to function in a successful and positivemanner and teach students with visual impairments to safely and independentlynavigate their environment.
Minimum Requirements:
- Valid state teaching certificate as required by stateregulations
- Minimum of one year experience in learning environmentpreferred
